A Plastic Prison: Fees For Using Debit Cards.
As much as one may assume that banks and companies have some right to charge for people to use their debit cards for purchases in various markets and retail outlets, it is idiotic and unreasonable. Why should anyone be charging to use debit cards for purchases? The likelihood is merely that these stores are charging this fee and then alleging they are simply passing it on to consumers. Even if these stores were legitimate in this claim, they should have the nuts to fight this idiotic and disingenuous policy.
The truth is, that if these banks and credit card companies truly are charging this fee, then it is high time people begin refusing to use this form of payment which merely allows retailers to track what is bought and sold to whom, thereby assisting marketing companies and suppliers with invading peoples privacy and using it against them. These markets should actually be paying people to use these cards.
At any rate, there are now two more local stores I will not be patronizing anymore because they actually now attempt to charge me an extra .50 cents on top of the price of the already overpriced products they sell.
This is just one more indication that it would be extremely unwise to discard the tried and true method of cash and carry, in exchange for this veritable prison of plastic.
