Mohammar Gadhafi, and son Seif, have been long threatening that civil war is coming to Libya. But these despotic and ignorant leaders likely do not realize that they actually do not have control over any such kind of conflict. A civil war generally has a mind of its own, especially in this day. The best Gadhafi can do is buy some loyalty, he cannot actually create the levels of animus necessary to truly foment a civil war.

However, he will still be defending against the closest thing to it. A clear disadvantage.

What should present as a mostly incongruent application of the term "civil war" is actually more of a threat by a madman.

It appears that what Mohammar Gadhafi really means is that he intends to commit mass murder of innocent civilians in Tripoli merely out of spite.

The fact that he is even considering this reveals a hairline crack in his armor that the citizens of Libya can capitalize on.

While it is true that Gadhafi appears to have bought enough support to withstand an offensive, the question is, how long of an offensive. The people may be outgunned at the moment, but they are better positioned and less demarcated.

The anti-Gadhafi puzzle is now a multi faceted force locked in a battle of wits with a dictatorial and delusional central command, and have a clear advantage for several reasons.

First: the people are breaking ground against a well known guard while Gadhafi's forces are going to be flying blind and generally constrained to established tactics. This is a significant morale parameter that has the Gadhafi forces fighting in the red from the beginning. Furthermore, the advantage of motivation is in the hands of the people.

Two: Gadhafi has shown that he is capable of slaughtering his own civilian citizens, and thus his leadership is tentative at best, regardless of what he claims, or how many people he can buy to support him.

One concern for him will be that any move to commit mass murder would be a simultaneous effort that would detract from the engagemnt of the forward offensives, and strain his resources.

It is sad to consider that he would do this, and at the same time it would doom him to defeat because he is just delusional enough to attempt to sustain it.

This act would then essentially force his primary brigade to circle the wagons and hunker down in a severely compromised position.

However, one of the most telling factors will be that the people are armed with much more than military armaments, they are standing on the most powerful foundation of all; righteous indignation. And the pro-Gadhafi forces have nothing now, nor will they ever, that can match it.

The white eye of the Sphinx reply will guide the people's cry upon the desert sky, and none will remember the warren of the bastard's ballet.
