This will likely be my shortest article ever, since I am busy with more important matters and just want to point out that ABC News truly has shown they are not capable of even counting properly, let alone presenting an educated analysis of fiscal responsibility.
In a piece posted to nbc.com, titled "States in the Red" Bianna Golodryga points to what she actually calls the "smart screen" -- displaying the numerical summary of Wisconsin's budget -- which erroneoulsy reads "-$3,600,000 Budget Deficit", rather than the actual $3,600,000,000 deficit that Governor Scott Walker is attempting to close.
She can be heard, however, correctly articulating the words "three point six billion dollars" while looking at the screen. But the damage is already done, especially to anyone who is hard of hearing, or merely can't understand what she is saying. (ABC News)
Let's face it, in most any language numbers are pretty universal. So this type of gaff can be a rather pervasive mechanism of misinformation.
Amazingly enough, Golodryga goes on to show figures for $300,000,000 in budget cuts and correctly say's "three hundred million".
If the station cannot even get this right, then how do they posit to pontificate, in any respect, upon the much more complex areas of state-level collective bargaining rights of government employee unions, and their many unconstitutional mechanisms? Not to mention the broad levels of corruption and misfeasance within this system that has fractured the worker base with balkanizing loyalties that are in defiance of the private sectors that support them.
If ABC is truly expecting to be considered a go-to-source for credible news, then they could at least employ people who are capable of writing the figure "$3,600,000,000" (three point six billion dollars) so that viewers get a clearer image of just how much money these government-run sink holes are truly bilking the nation of.
Or maybe this network is just one more example of a limousine-liberal, Obama administration propaganda machine that would stoop to any level in order to hide from the American people the truth that the government spending in this nation is driving the poverty line lower, and flushing the majority of the nation's wealth down the toilet in a whirlpool of new taxes and government employee entitlements.
It is highly doubtful that ABC's editing staff are not somehow complicit in this fiscal faux pas, considering the levels of editing this video should have been required to pass through - on its way to air. A shame indeed.
