The only legitimate austerity is that which reduces costs while increasing production. All members of any service provider are thereby required to take a pay cut if and when demand exceeds promised supply.

Governments have taken payment for services that they are now refusing to supply.

There is no true austerity occurring in any country on this planet, because no government compensation has been reduced. In fact, the majority of government compensation has increased significantly in the last 10 years.

For the governments of the world to be proposing measures of austerity while increasing their own compensation is only a clear act of criminality, and a complete dereliction of duty, as they opt for severance rather than accountability.

They have disingenuously pledged unwavering support of the people, and taken an oath of public service, in their bid to garner political support, but are now utterly refusing to even acknowledge that they are in any way responsible for the problems they have created.

Cutting government jobs or cutting services and resources is merely a deceptive transfer of responsibility onto the breaking backs of the people. It is in no way a form of austerity, but merely a refusal to accept the accountability that inexplicably comes with a position of public service.

The fact is that austerity does not allow any government agency or political office to be abandoned or vacated without an equal reduction in citizenry.

Therefore, true austerity requires that those currently in control of the system provide to the people all previously, and currently, offered services, while experiencing a reduction in compensation that is clearly commensurate with the austerity being experienced by the people.

The compensation being offered to all public officials, and their counterparts, must be reduced to an amount reflective of that which shall support any necessary budgetary shortfalls, regardless of the hours of operation necessary to provide proper services to the people.
