More Foolish Rhetoric From "All Talk Obama "
Barack Obama rather lamely attempted to appear presidential and informed in an Oval Office speech just two days ago, where he chastised British Petroleum -- a multinational conglomerate, and one of the largest private companies in the world -- and made effusive references to his intimate involvement in the efforts to stop the hemorrhaging Deep Horizon oil well, and clean up the crude-stained Gulf Coast and estuaries. However, just prior to this national address, Obama was on a Gulf Coast tour where he visited only obsequious supporters of his agenda, and coastal areas where the city’s pristine beaches have been largely unaffected by the black deluge of fossil sludge washing ashore in other areas. In Gulf Port, Mississippi, Obama appears to have gotten high marks from some local politicians, and has been routinely defended for his lack of initiative, leadership and action during this two month debacle. This appears to be the average response from what have become Obama pod people, completely devoid of reason or cognizance, and ridiculously rhetorical when asked to expound on just what actions Obama has taken to assist the efforts. Unfortunately, Obama and his administration have invariably refused help offered by the Dutch and other countries who petitioned this government en mass with expertise and equipment ready to engage the crisis. Obama has refused to suspend the Jones Act, which was passed in the 1920’s and is partly inappropriate today, certainly in this catastrophe. The act is merely a maritime law which prevents other countries from operating in local American waters used to support American ships with American business interests. This administration is obviously responsible for a significant portion of the damage that has both directly occurred, and indirectly been exacerbated, by its negligence and obstruction in the face of such an acute and potentially catastrophic disaster. There is no reason whatsoever for this spill to have propagated as it has, and it is entirely obvious that it was the Obama administration’s refusal to allow pre-approved and readily available methods to be employed, or cooperate with those who had the ability to engage the situation with proven expertise in crises level containment techniques. Obama has done absolutely nothing to grease the wheels of productivity or remove some of the corroded red tape that is stalling so many cleanup efforts. He has also seen to it that local residents in the areas affected are not allowed to assist in the efforts, and even has sent the Coast Guard to where tankers are removing the oily sheen before it reaches shore, and forced them to cease and desist all cleanup for no other reason than the operators could not produce registered documents guaranteeing that the barges were equipped with fire extinguishers. Furthermore, this kind of calcifying and ridiculous behavior is being employed by an administration that presented BP and the Deep Horizon oil rig with an award for safety shortly before the accident occurred that killed eleven men and sent the huge floating structure to the bottom of the ocean, ejecting plumes of suffocating sludge that have been abated to no significant degree for two straight months now. Moreover, what about those eleven men? Those were eleven sons, fathers, husbands and brothers of hard working American families. Those were real human lives with real hopes and dreams just like anyone, and they were part of an industry of which there is no equal, either in this nation or the world. The men who generally call these drilling platforms home for months at a time are a breed of hands on, no holds barred, courageous souls who realize that often they are placing their lives on the line in order to supply the world with its very lifeblood. A lifeblood that not only produces the majority of the nation’s energy needs… It is one of the most efficient and durable commodities for building roads and preserving timber used in various applications such as railways and telephone poles. It fuels everything from personal automobiles and public transportation to food distribution and space exploration. It allows companies to manufacture plastics that are necessary to create, sustain, save and ease peoples every day lives. It is the lifeblood of factories, construction, excavation and agricultural production that use it to reduce the friction in the machines and equipment that enable them to operate. Regardless of what the environmental extremists say, or how viscerally they attack the oil industry, or even regardless of the small portion of their claims which are legitimate, the fact is that the oil industry is currently one of the most, if not the most, vital contributions to nearly every facet of contemporary human life. Oil production and consumption is here to stay for a host of applications, and although it may not be the best solution in many people’s opinion, the truth is that this is merely an opinion. Because there has not been one inexplicably legitimate alternative created to replace it since its discovery. Even the electric cars many environmentalists are so fond of must be initially induced with magnetically generated static power that is created by first burning fossil fuels. The proposition or assumption that plant based derivatives can replace fossil fuels is merely a fantasy that expects to ignore the fact that a significant portion of crude oil is critical to applications which have nothing to do with combustion. Therefore, any assertion from Barack Obama that the alleged crisis of Anthropogenic Global Warming demands that the world reduce its consumption of “fossil fuels” is no excuse whatsoever to demand that oil production be abated to any significant degree. One would note that government agencies, contractors and subsidiaries make up a majority of the top consumers of this nation’s 19.5 million barrels of crude oil expenditures each day. Furthermore, fossil fuel and its derivatives are used with utter abandon in all military vehicles, tanks, jets, planes, gun ships, air craft carriers, and most submarines. Crude oil and tar are used to build the highways, byways, streets lanes and railroads all across this nation. Even more interesting is the fact that Obama appears to be completely ignorant to the fact that the alleged 3.4 million jobs he claims will be created this summer are entirely dependant on crude oil production. At present, the infrastructure jobs he is proposing to create cannot exist without it. However, Obama does not appear to be one bit interested in actually making the Gulf Coast disaster a top priority as he again reneges on another promise to the American people. No, Obama would rather employ more politicking and lies as he attempts to convince the American people that the rising unemployment rate is a good thing. Or that the United States Constitution is just an obstacle to be subverted and ignored. Or that the trillion dollar deficit is no big deal as he demands another $50 billion stimulus package in hopes of staving off the results of this latest round of failing policies and inept pragmatism. And on top of it all, as the Bush tax cuts begin to expire, Obama is gearing up to further raise taxes on a declining dollar and skyrocketing deficit that the people will suffer under in a protracted and inhospitably exponential fashion for generations to come. What is imperative to this nation, is for the people to keep their attention focused on the policies of this president’s energy trajectory, because myriad political shenanigans are sure to inundate any cap and trade mechanism implemented by the government since there is no way today’s industry or government can survive without carbon based products. Nothing is as readily available or as cheap and volatile as petroleum, and in this current economically depressed atmosphere alternative fuels are both a multilayered expenditure nobody can afford, or are even remotely prepared to employ with efficiency. To push any energy reform in the current economy is ridiculous, and Obama is a fool for even considering it.
