Consumer Bubble, Corporate Bust

Many in this nation appear to be rather incensed about the fact that Barack Obama is demanding that the auto industry be held to a higher level of management than they have employed to date, by refusing to give them any more financial support until they hammer out a better business plan for the 21st Century.

Some people may even say that the problems afflicting the industry could be better solved by free-market capitalism, since the consumers will determine what is a logical business plan, essentially by approving or disapproving it with purchase quantities.

However, this obtuse form of logic, while excusable, should not overestimate the market's abilities to sustain this nation in an equitable manner respective of all concerns...econimical and environmental.

On a side note, neither can people place this current proposal by Obama in the same light as the concession made to implement infusions of cash into the banking and finance companies in the nation. They are entirely separate and different entities, and while it may not have been the best choice to bail out AIG, or selectively allow particular investment banks and firms to fail, these decisions still require much more investigation and research into the policies and requirements enacted, intended results and possible vested interests. Furthermore, the director of GM was not the only head to roll, but I digress…

The main concern at this point is that this nation is on the wrong course and must begin to look in a more sustainable and equitable direction. This nation can no longer quantify the feasibility of products simply by their profitability or demand. This mentality is not sustainable, and is much of what is leading this nation to bubble and bust.

To depend solely on the marketability and profit margin of products, whether in theory or practicality, creates incredible levels of deceptive tendencies and corrupt practices bent on destructive competition at consumer expense.

With the insane levels of manipulative marketing schemes and tactics, intent on a veritable fleecing of the average consumer with blatant mendacity and manipulative fear tactics, the American people are not, at this point, either able to, nor for the large part have any interest to, buy the products that will engender a more equitable and sustainable societal mechanism in this nation.

As much as there is a strong-willed minority beginning to push, more ardently, for open discussion on the subject of symbiotic existence with the planet and compliance to the will of nature, the majority of the population in this country is still brow beaten and cajoled by the media’s constant attack on, and exploitation of, human frailties, and the fact that most people lean toward a proclivity to be accepted rather than stand their ground in the face of what can become absolutely insurmountable odds; odds enabled by an ignorant and roiling mass of complacent victims hypnotized by an all out media blitz which began almost the day the first product advertisement hit the stream of information in this nation.

Trouble is, this ignorant mass of consumers constantly complains about the “instigators” who are attempting to do their part by speaking up and opposing abusive and derisive establishment ideals, and they constantly berate those of this nation who are trying to change the “agree to agree” or “agree to disagree” mentality of those around them. This is a mentality which allows people to engender a type of self-centered, self-preservative, look out for yourself and screw the other guy mentality.

It would be a wonderful thing if all of the citizens in this nation could be counted on to vote their conscience and use their wallets with a proper degree of accountability. However, that obviously rarely the case. One look at which companies have proliferated all throughout this nations short history will prove that.

This nation’s incredible appetite for charred dead animal flesh, artery clogging pleasure foods (i.e., ice cream, cheese, butter and saturated fats), sugary snacks, pre-packaged everything, carbonated sugar water, decadent SUV’s, habit-forming deadly consumables such as cigarettes, violent films and morbidity, pimp mentality exploits and prostitution, etc…etc…, has done much to create the abysmal corporate leadership which is so incessant of fleecing the nations consumers in every way imaginable.

The advertising and marketing industry in this nation is being given complete access to any and all tactics, regardless of their levels of deception or manipulatively destructive nature. While it can be claimed that somewhere in the language of the law there is intended to be truth in advertising, the fact is that there are far too many legal loop-holes allowed by intemperate and odious interpretations of the fundamental “facts” which are meant to define this largely unspoken policy.

This nefariously ingenious manipulation of the truth has done much to corrode the very fabric of this great nation. Moreover, many of the lies told in advertising have begun to jump the proverbial wall into the realms of journalism and news reporting much of the nation has grown to depend on for factual integrity.

While one could certainly make the point that America is not the only one who buys and sells destructive and health “unconscious” products, much of the rest of the world is significantly more moderate in their consumption. Furthermore, the United States is looked to as a pioneering nation in many ways, and has a responsibility to live up to the many claims made, and policies literally forced on many other smaller or less developed countries.

This nation, and all others, must eventually reform and restructure many things as the nature of the Universe changes and grows within and without the minds and souls of all humankind. This change will be best dealt with if all concerned begin to realize that there is not much room for justifications of ignorance or complacent mendacity. This nation must begin to take full account of the causes, rather than incessantly attempting to mitigate the effects.
