Complacently Defensive American Apathy

Amazing! I just had the displeasure of once again attempting to converse with another alleged American citizen (that is obviously anything but, while working here and selling products for profit) as this person, and I use that term very loosely, decided to tell me that I was pushing my views on him, regardless of the fact that I have affably engaged him in various forms of analytical banter over the last few weeks.

All I did was merely ask him what he thought about the whole AIG fiasco, and he replied “I don’t care, I don’t have my money in there”. To which I informed him of the fact that he actually did, since they were the recipients of over 170 billion of this nation’s tax dollars for the purpose of bailing them out of their recently convoluted duplicitous predicament.

At this point the guy began to imply that he does not care what the government does with his tax dollars. As I eluded to the fact that one really should care as a citizen of a free nation. Thus he stated that he could not do anything about it anyway. To which I, of course, countered that he, as an American citizen, has every right to, not only do something about it, but can also prevent the government from taking some of those tax dollars it currently demands are legally garnished by them in the first place, yet are not.

At this point I am beginning to enjoy the conversation as it is obviously entering the white hot realm of conflictive conjecture (aka argument) that I most respect and realize is the foundation of all true resolution and progressive change.

Suddenly, the man, obviously not much interested in anything beyond his daily mastication of charred and cheese smothered dead animal flesh (judging from the fact that he is well over 300 pounds of extreme obesity), began to get rather obstinate and defensive as he demanded “I am not pushing my views on you, but you are pushing your views on me, and I don’t care to talk about it…know what I mean?”. To which I instantly replied “no, I don’t, but I now have no intention of pursuing the matter further” (know what I mean??)

Be certain that this retail outlet I have been frequenting as of late, of which the aforementioned exchanger appears to be a significantly vested party, will not get one more red cent of this freedom loving, accountability breathing, Constitution protecting, corruption fighting, law abiding American’s hard earned, quickly depreciating, privately-owned-Federal-Reserve-diluted currency in exchange for their overpriced products.
