Innocent man imprisoned 26 years for murder he didn't commit

Chicago-- A  man is free on bail after 26 years in prison for a crime he likely did not commit. A signed affidavit that could exhonorate Alton Logan, overturning his conviction for a murder confessed to in the affidavit by another man, Andrew Wilson, was kept in a lawyers locked security box for nearly 26 years while Logan sat in prison. In January of 2008 the document was finally revealed upon Wilson’s death. Apparently Wilson's accomplice had also told police that Logan was not his partner in the crime and was innocent, all to no avail.

This is just one more travesty of justice in a city famous for corrupt police and prosecutors who send people to prison on trumped up charges, forced confessions and coerced eye witness testimony. This author has had his own experiences with corrupt Chi Town police and being thrown in jail for missing a court date a lawyer neglected to reveal, or being tossed in a cell by a ranting, rabid judge for being ten minutes late to court because of a chemo therapy appointment. This latest in a long line of nefariously mishandled prosecution's is no surprise at all.

However, the entire fiasco is likely to elicit a bevy of complaints against the rights of attorney client privilege, and prompt many to denounce such a practice in an attempt to prevent future miscarriages of justice. But the fact is that Alton Logan’s lawyer, who was hired to defend him against false charges that he murdered a security guard, could not, or just would not, protect an innocent man from a conviction. The entire blame rests on the shoddy police work and the incompetence of Logan’s lawyer, and he should likely be disbarred.

It is certainly no doubt that, once again, the lethargic and discriminatory actions of the prosecutorial legal system will be used to cover the ineptitude of the many lawyers who are all too happy to merely “agree to agree” because it is not really their ass on the line. Far too many public defenders attempt to railroad clients because in this day and age you only get what you pay for. If their had been a great deal of money to be made for giving up the morally bankrupt Wilson, it is likely Logan would have been freed over 20 years ago. This is just one more presentation of the world of subversive leaders designed to garner sympathy for the system, and set the wheels in motion that would seek to abolish attorney client privilege in an ever darkening world of police brutality and judicially criminal behavior.

Horror stories i call these. Looks like they just wanted to find 'someone' to admit the murder. They might as well stand on times square with their eyes closed and point a finger to a regular person. We're lucky to live in the united states, in arabian countries these things happen on a daily basis.
