Your Daily Eight

On the Reuters website recently, there was an article mimicking so many other articles I have noticed in the last few years professing to "debunk" the widely accepted health advantages of drinking eight, 8 oz. glasses of water a day. Moreover, they relegate this intake to nothing more than pointless "guzzling", titling the article as such in an obvious attempt to beg attention to it's baseless text ("Research debunks health value of guzzling water", Will Dunham. Reuters Apr 02, 2008).

The practice of consuming 64 oz. of water each day, while many times taken out of context, is a commendable habit no body should neglect. This does not mean that the only place one gets their water is from a glass or the ever popular sports bottle, it is merely a guideline for the average person's intake of moisture whether it be in water rich fruits and vegetables, moist breads, soups, salads or the dog's drinking dish. The body, absent excessive water loss through perspiration, has a minimum requirement for daily intake.

Another important aspect of this body regimen is the quality and "type" of water consumed. In light of the fact that one third of all water is oxygen (H2O), it stands to reason that fresh water contains a variant content that is not reflective of the moisture in processed food, and can be considered wanting in comparison to the nutrient rich water in fresh vegetables.

Where one gets their water, and the foods associated with it's consumption, have a great deal to do with the type of available oxygen and energy stored within. If one truly understands the nature of water and why the body requires it, the veracity of "scientific" evidence claiming humans no longer need their daily eight will always be in question.

The many contradictory articles and unfounded claims, such as these, being bantered about by respected news media entities, and generated by the scientific community which seems to talk, many times, just to hear themselves, are what this site was created to address. Far too much of the misinfomation in print can cast a sort of trance on people, but then that is what this conjuring, literary skill is all about, isn't it? ...S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G.
