Is Smoking Cigarettes Excercising Free Will?(edited 12/4)
All habitual smokers on this planet likely believe they are excercising some form of free will, or personal choice. However, this supposed choice (illegitimate selection) is mainly reserved to denial in the captivating world of addiction. Furthermore, no will can properly operate within the mendacious environment all such obsessions create.
Not even a common idiot in their right mind would ever smoke an entire cigarette, and certainly would not do it habitually. When one eventually has some introductory opportunity to experience the acrid smoke produced by burning tobacco, and especially the pitiful offerings of todays tobacco companies, there is a natural aversion that must be overcome.
As a former smoker myself, who also, by the way, started very early in life due to environmental pressures, I know that all smokers must first experience some ulterior reasoning present and accountable at the moment they take that initial suffocating puff. After that, these reasonings, no matter how ridiculous or absurd, begin to take complete control of "the habit".
The absolute fact is that cigarettes are very toxic and are certainly deadly to the human body. Many people may choose to play the "smoker" game. However, it is imperative that they stop kidding themselves and demanding, like some rebellious five year old, that they are excercising their free will. Anyone who smokes cigarettes habitually is certainly controlled in one of the most crippling and corrosive ways possible...by delusions that have hijacked their mind!
One of the worst delusions to come down the pike, as of late, is the introduction of the "opiate response" relation, attempting to attribute to the nature of cigarette addiction some idiotic belief that it is somehow stronger than a heroin addiction. This is an absolute absurd notion and must certainly be abolished from any educational text or psychiatric mantra. This new addictive property now only enables smokers to bemoan some fresh and more pathetic excuse employed to garner sympathy from those around them who would definitely demand they quit this extremely offensive practice, if it were plausibly within the limits of ethical behavior...but alas it will never be. Control is never the answer, these people must be infused with proper knowledge and self esteem that will enable respectable and constructive behaviors. Attempts at regulation and prohibition merely remove accountability and make way for unchecked perversion.
